As requested by Alexandra, I share more photos of Sal, which is one of the islands of Cabo Verde in the Central Atlantic Ocean. It's the first time I publish an Instagram-style post on my humble blog. Thank you for asking me, Alexandra.
While I was watching goats in the Island of Sal, I was amazed by their ability to survive and thrive in hersh environment. I noticed that goats can withstand prolonged drought in arid zone or areas with poor vegetation, such as sub-saharian regions.
Sal Island has on average 350 days of sunshine per year, and the "rainy" season is from late July to October.
I found a huge variety of street art on different corners of the islands, which perfectly matches the already colourful houses.
Cabo Verde is now the world's largest nesting aggregation for Caretta turtles. Hunting and harvesting such vulnerable species and their eggs is illegal under Cabo Verde's law. In addition, sea turtles' protections are heavily enforced by international treaties.
Have a nice weekend ☀

...sunshine is wonderful, but so is rain.
ReplyDeleteSun and rain, a balanced mix is essential for growth.
DeleteThis is a pretty amazing place. Goats seem to be able to survive anywhere. To have sunshine everyday would be so nice. Mix in the rain and well sounds nice to me. Thank you for sharing this and have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteGiorgio, beautiful photos. I looked at the photos from the Cape Verde Islands with great interest. I've never been there.
ReplyDeleteGiorgio, I wish you a wonderful weekend!
Hello Anna, I'm glad to hear you were interested in my post about Cabo Verde 🇨🇻
DeleteMe encantaría conocer Cabo Verde. Las fotos son muy bonitas.
ReplyDeleteBuen fin de semana.
Un abrazo, Giorgio
Thank you, Marisa.
DeleteSuch a beautiful blue sky in your last photograph ...
ReplyDeleteThe street art is colourful.
I wish you a nice weekend.
All the best Jan
Giorgio, I didn't know you visited West Africa. Last night, the Nazis murdered children in our country again. I'll be posting today.

DeleteHello Irina, I look forward to reading your post about the Ukraine's attack.
I am so glad you shared more photos! It looks absolutely beautiful there! I wonder do people swim in the water? Are those tourist accommodations in the last photo?
ReplyDeleteYes, Alexandra. Those small white buildings in the last photo are tourist accomodation. French and Italian investors are buying tropical assets in Cabo Verde.
DeleteAn interesting Island. It amazes me how animals manage to find food in some areas of this world, but they seem to.
ReplyDeleteThe mural looks good and where that lady is sitting it looks very clean there.
Yes, Margaret. That island was clean enough and goats are capable of thriving in extreme conditions.
DeleteGiorgio, your photos are lovely 🌞.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at the scenes from Cabo Verde.
I’ve never been there myself, so it’s wonderful to see it through your lens.
Wishing you a happy weekend! 🌸
Same to you, Veronica.

ReplyDeleteThe pictures are very beautiful. The goats are true survivors. :)
That's true, Andrea. Goats are nature’s greatest survivors.
DeleteWonderful photos Giorgio :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ananka :-)
Anette
Hello Annete,
DeleteThe island you visited, Boa Vista, is located close to Sal.
I've heard there is groundwater on Boa Vista, but it is highly insufficient to sustain the island.
Greetings,
G.
Bello lugar. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThe island looks beautiful in such a raw and natural way. I really enjoyed the contrast between the dry landscape, the colourful street art, and the peaceful scenes of everyday life.
ReplyDeleteThe goats are fascinating as well. Animals adapting to such harsh environments always reminds me how resilient nature can be.
The turtle conservation efforts are also wonderful to read about. Protecting vulnerable species is so important, especially in places with such unique ecosystems.
Your photos truly capture the atmosphere of Sal beautifully.
Dear Melody, it's a pleasure to read your appreciation for the post. Thank you for that. As you rightly mentioned, there is a stark contrast between Sal's dry contryside and and the scenes of every day life. On such an arid island the local administration has built a desalination plant. They extract salt and minerals from seawater to produce fresh, drinkable water.
DeleteHave a lovely new week.
The images are so exotic and wonderful
