Tourist traps

It's always lovely to go and eat where locals go. There are no doubt. Twelve out of twelve blogging friends, who left a comment on my previous post, agree on this. I appreciate my blogging friends sharing their point of view on tourist accomodations and restaurants run by big corporations. Thank you for that.

A tourist trap is a location, like a shop, restaurant or attraction, that caters specifically to visitors and preys on them with high prices, low quality and inauthentic goods. The photo above shows a Cape Verdean woman running a small shop selling traditional handicrafs. I hope shops like that one one will be never run by big corporations.

This morning, on a sunny Sunday, while I was going to the beach I drove through the countryside covered with sunflowers 🌻☀🚗 I have noticed there are a lot of sunflowers in Rome's surroundings. Perhaps the production of this cereal has been increased in Italy because it is no longer possible to import it from Ukraine and Russia.

This Sunday is perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

Have a lovely Sunday and a great new week ☀

  1. Giorgio, let me start by saying that I envy your beautiful weather! I envy the sun, true summer, blue skies, beautiful colors! I have: rain, gray, windy weather; it's literally been almost summerless. Spring? No spring. Winter? Too long, too much snow, and too much frost!!!
Giorgio, the photo of the sunflowers is wonderful!!! I love eating sunflower seeds :)

  2. The beach is absolutely stunning. The many sunflowers create a lovely landscape.

I also really hope that unique, independent shops can survive.

    Have a lovely evening.

  5. You know I live in a tourist town. Old Town is where all of the shops and eateries are. Every single place there is a tourist trap. It is awful. When someone asks us where do the locals eat we tell them out of town. LOL It is a shame really. As for your beautiful day with sunflowers and the beach, you can't go wrong. Hope you had a very lovely day.

  7. Holiday time down here the prices go up of accommodation, some places that sell food usually where tourist appear however the locals still get a good share. On the ferry that goes across Bass Strait, well the prices on the ship are a killer as you will be on the ship all day or all night.
Love the sunflowers and beautiful blue sky along with the beach scene.
