On this sunny Sunday Italian newspapers show that we, Europeans, are at a crossroads in Europe history because of the insanity of two leaders: Macron and Starmer. Europe should not drag themself in Ukraine war, rather they should focus on diplomatic solution at any cost. The Italian prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, isn't snubbing anybody. She and other EU leaders are looking after their own people and their own coutries. They are not interested in helping weapons-makers to become richer by creating a never ending war in East Ukraine.
I think some people pretend to forget that in 2021, before Russia's invasion, US & UK military drills took place three times on the Ukrainian ground, close to the Russian border. And now two European leaders want to do the same mistake. NATO troops in Ukraine for peace is an insane reasoning, as this was the reason the whole thing started.
And last but not least, since yesterday Russians have been advancing sharply in the Russian region of Kursk. Consequently, I am sorry to see that Ukraine's sole territorial bargaining counter will disappaer soon, unfortunately. That's why Zelensky made a great mistake last week when he didn't agree on Washington ceasefire proposal. Last week at Washington' oval office he, the comedian, still had bargaing power. At present I am afraid Ukrainians have no choice but to lose Russian occupied territories. He will be judged by his own people.
...let's look forward to peaceful future.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree on this, my friend :-)
DeleteOh Giorgio I am not a fan of Starmer at all, the man is an idiot and does not care about his country at all. And the Scottish leader Swinney is just as bad. The SNP have turned my wonderful country into a 3rd world poor country now - high crime rates, drug problems and high unemployment.
ReplyDeleteI am all for helping countries in disaster but not war of course. But I have always said focus on your country first as it needs help. Do fund raisers and events to raise money for the other countries that need the help. It seems both Starmer and Swinney do not care about the people in the UK or Scotland.
I only know what I have read on your blog about your PM, she seems very good and sensible. We need more leaders like her.
Glad to hear it is sunny. We are having a lovely day here and my partner is doing work on our front step laying concrete, as it will set and dry in this lovely weather. Spring is finally here! :-D
Dear Ananka, great to hear your point of view about this hot topic.
DeleteLast week I noticed that UK's prime minister still continues to bring tax-payers' money to arms manufacturers' pockets. He announced the Thales missile factory in Belfast will supply 5,000 air defence missiles to Ukraine. The deal is worth up to £ 1.6 billion.
How can British policy-makers continue to send weapons to Zelensky, who firstly have lost the war and, secondly, didn't agree last week on Washington ceasefire proposal?
Great to hear the weather is already sunny in your beautiful country.
Have a nice week ahead of you!
Hi Giorgio,
ReplyDeleteMy good friend, I agree with your words - President Zelensky of Ukraine made huge mistakes in Washington.
I talking about the war in Ukraine, I agree with you too. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is a very smart person. I respect her.
Giorgio, we in Europe don't need, we do not want war!!! We want peace. I don't want my country and its citizens to take part in war! I want to live safely.
Giorgio, I'm sending you an interesting link - Elon Musk calls the Polish Foreign Minister a “Little Man” (another thing is that Musk is right in this, Sikorski has too big an ego) and he tells Sikorski to “keep quiet”:

Dear Anna, the main problem is that both, France and UK, are interested in Ukraine's mineral resources. Ukraine claims to hold nearly $15 trillion worth of mineral resources. It's one of the most resource-rich countries in Europe. That's why Bruxelles elite are interested in Ukraine to join EU whatever it takes.
DeleteUkraine is home to Europe's largest reserves of lithium, titanium, and uranium. And that's the main reason why France and UK want to send their troops there, on the Ukrainian ground. They WANT a slice of that pie, whatever it takes ‼
Thank you for sharing the link, Anna :-)
Have a nice new week !
I have read that the United Kingdom and France have already secured agreements with Ukraine regarding mineral resources. It is likely that shared interests have motivated these similar actions
ReplyDeleteFrance and UK speak about Russians, who are stealing East Ukraine's resources, but all have to be cast in the same mold.
DeleteHello, Giorgio! There is a proverb in Russia - "If you want to win a fight, start fighting first."
ReplyDeleteRussian intelligence knew that Ukraine, with the help of the US, UK and EU, was going to attack Russia. Why then did the US, UK and EU load Ukraine with weapons since 2014 and bomb Donbass from morning to evening from February 17 to 23, 2022?
Ukraine trained in Donbass to attack Russia. But we started first!
Europe has already unleashed two world wars and dreams of a third world war. This is not only Macron and Stalmer, but also von der Leyen, Callas, Antonio Costa and others in EU.
Russia never wanted this war. Russia is not going to attack European countries. We do not need Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Germany and France. But we can send them Hazelnut as a gift if they do not want to calm down.
Macron says that Russia is threatening France. Are Russian troops really near Paris? NO! Did Russia really throw a bomb at the Eiffel Tower? NO! Did Russia really destroy Notre Dame Cathedral? NO!
But French weapons (and not only French) are killing Russian soldiers, Russian women, old people and children!!!!!!
Hello, dear Irina. A 5th grade boy would understand that France and UK are interested in Ukraine's resources.
DeleteWith regard to East Ukraine invasion, which took place in late February 2022, obviously Russian intelligence knew that US & UK had been delivering weaponry to Ukraine from 2014 to 2021. That's the main reason why in March 2022 many experts said it was a provocation, deliberately.
My thoughts: why US & UK weren't interested in Belarus❓ Why they didn't overthrown Belarus pro-Russians president, as they made in Ukraine in 2014 (culminated in the ousting of President Viktor Yanukovych)❓ And most importantly, why nobody was interested in Belarus joining NATO & EU❓ That's so simple: because Belarus in not as rich as Ukraine. They are also interested in Georgia, because of its strategic location between Türkiye and South Russia.

Have a nice new week!
In 2020 there was an attempt to stage a coup d' `etat in Belarus and kill President Lukashenko. But the attempt failed.
DeleteBelarus is also rich in resources. It's just that peace-loving people, patriots of their country live in Belarus. They all defended their country and their President.
DeleteI don't think so, Irina! There are evidence that Belarus is not as rich as Ukraine. That's why predators are not interested in overthrowing Belarus' president. There are no evidence about who tried to kill Lukashenko.
DeleteStill on the Ukraine-Russia front, in 2022 Pope Francis told journalist (from an Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera) that he was very worried about how NATO was moving (obviously NATO means US & UK). The journalist asked him why, and he replied: "They are barking at the gates of Russia. They don’t understand that the Russians are imperial and can’t have any foreign power getting close to them."
I'm like Tom, looking forward to peace and the children growing up, those adult ones.
ReplyDeleteThat's right! We wait and see :-)

ReplyDeleteLike almost everyone,
I wish peace to people and especially to children. I find it a shame how much money has been and continues to be invested in weapons.
How much good and helpful one could have done with the money.
I wish you a nice new week. :)
You have made some very valid points in your post.
ReplyDeleteI just look forward to there being peace.
So much of the world is in a very troubled state at the moment.
All the best Jan
