On Friday, February 20, 2026, the US Supreme Court ruled that the Washington's yellow haired man violated federal reserve law when he imposed biggest and boldest tariffs customs across the world.
In tariff case, Supreme Court justices didn't say what's going to happen to $ 133 billion already collected in import taxes now declared unlawful.
From an economic perspective, US' small businesses are facing severe financial strain and closures due to tariffs. Now the Supreme Court decision delivers a major relief to US' importers of wine, spirits, cheese, oilve oil and other agri-food products from the EU.
According to constitutional law experts, US Supreme Court has for the first time confronted Trump's broader challenge to the rule of law.
That's victory for the American constitution.

ReplyDeleteThis all sounds good in the news, however, the "thing" doesn't care what the rule of law is, what the SCOTUS says or what congress says. He has already launched different tariffs. He is also hell bent on starting a war. Any war, anywhere. Everything he vomits out of his mouth are lies. I read an article about how he presents himself in speeches. A psychologist describes him as Victim-Persecutor-Rescuer. It's a good read and truly shows how he manipulates the people. I wonder what the three dems in the SCOTUS had to give up in order for the 3 rebs to vote with them. 3 rebus dissented. Also one must remember that this is the very first time any SCOTS has gone against the "thing" We can only hope that this has set a precedent and it will happen more. However, the "thing" has a way of threatening people to do his bidding. We will have to see what happens with tariffs, the money already collected. DeleteThe Court ruled that Trump exceeded his authority by invoking a 1977 law to impose the tariffs. As you mentioned, the US Supreme Court has set a precedent. And this case is the first major challenge to Trump’s policy agenda.

While the judges’ ruling is encouraging, I wouldn’t be surprised if more tariff ideas pop up again. He doesn’t seem to back down easily, so let’s see how this plays out.
