A dark day in the history of the oldest existing nation with a constitutional government

On January, 6th, while legislators were gathering to certify Joe Biden election victory, President Donald Trump told thousands of supporters to walk to the Capitol building. And after Trump's supporters had began to gather outside the meeting place of the U.S. Congress, legislators were forced to abandon the congressional session as the Capitol building was locked down.

At 16:20 President elected Joe Biden called on Trump to immediatyely "demand an end of this siege". But the President Donald Trump, in a twitter video, repeated false claims that he had won the election, and, on the other hand, he urged his supporters to go home in peace. A Trump's supporter, Ashli Babbitt, was shot inside the Capitol building and died later. At 05:00 pm crowds began to disperse around Capitol Hill.

On January 7th, at 03:40 am, according to Electoral College votes, Congress confirmed Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 U.S. election.

This week the majority of U.S. house of representatives, 222 democrats and 10 republicans, voted to impeach President Donald Trump over Capitol violence. Democrats had accused Trump, who is leaving office in five days, of inciting a crowd to storm the Capitol on January  6th. He is the only U.S. President to be impeached twice. Most people in the U.S. think that man is a danger for their democratic country, which is the oldest existing nation with a constitutional government.

Post script: the three pictures above were taken by a colleague of mine, Luigi Muci, who went to the U.S. (Pennsylvania and New york) in 2019.

  3. I am sorry about this big riot.
It should not and should not occur riots considering America as an example of a country with the largest democracy principles in the world.

May the inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden be solemn and will create much peace in the world after that.

    Greetings.

    1. These are great thoughts, Himawan! While Trump was leading the US, we have seen wars in Yemen, Libya, Syria, etc. Not to mention of trade wars (China, Iran, etc.). As you mentioned, it's time to create a peaceful world.
      Have a nice Sunday, Himawan

    2. Yes, Giorgio.
In the past, when Trump served as President, there were many controversial words and decisions.

Last night I watched the live broadcast of Joe Biden's inauguration television station as President.
I am happy that the inauguration ceremony was beautiful and successful.

I am sure Joe Biden will immediately withdraw the controversial decision Trump made.

May you always be happy Giorgio.

    3. I agree on this, Himawan. Actually, just hours into his presidency, Joe Biden has already signed orders that will reverse some of Trump's most divisive policies, such as rescinding the so-called “Muslim ban”🧕, rejoining the Paris climate accord🗼, and ending the process to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO)🌞

    4. Joe Biden's decision to immediately withdraw Thrump's controversial decision ... is very commendable.

I'm very happy to read your explanation, Giorgio.

      Greetings.

  4. Buongiorno Giorgio, quello che è successo a Manaus lo considero un omicidio colposo, i politici non hanno voluto evitarlo.

    1. I would have never thought of such irresponsible behaviour! Actually, it may be considered a crime. I hope those politicians in your country will be prosecuted.
      Thanks for the information, Luiz!

  8. I was in Washing DC in 2018/19. It was such an honor to visit the white house and the surrounding DC. To view the horror of what happened to my country on Jan. 6. broke my heart. To see the police being beaten and one dying. To see the girl get shot, to see the hate, the damage and the complete disregard for life and property was like living a nightmare. It is not over either. dt allowed the evil to rise it's head and be seen and heard. We now have Qanaon believers in congress and running for more offices across the country. I am glad Biden won but it will be a battle to keep law and order now that it has been so broken.

    1. Unfortunately, corporate establishment (oil, mining, big media, pharmaceuticals, insurance, etc.) tries to deprive Congress of the practical authority. But after the ordeal, the US has a great President.
