Down the war path

I think we can not see the war in Ukraine as an isolated event.  Instead we should also look the conflict in East Europe as an integral part of a geopolitical strategy,  due to the fact that some countries are fanning its fire by applying political and economic tools. And while the Ukrainian President is still looking for partners who will give him weapons and more military assistance, the sanctions will severely damage the economy of many countries.

In an interesting article published two days ago by an Indian news network, the author, Palki Sharmaexplains three main mistakes made by the Ukraine President. According to the Indian journalist, Mr. Zelensky over-stimated Western support. In addition, he misread Ukraine importance to the Western countries. And last but not least, the Ukrainian President also misread Putin's intent to invade his country.

On the 1st of September 2021, Mr. Zelensky publicly said he thought the US President, Biden, would personally support Ukraine with regards to NATO membership. In April 2021 Zelensky seemed very confident in US & EU support due to the fact that his country would never be alone against Russian aggression.

But this doesn't mean that Western countries led Ukraine down the war path.

      Buona domenica!

    1. I hope U.S. soldiers will not continue to deploy to Europe ... this will pave the way to effective negotiations.

    1. Ukraina President, Zelensky, said his country is prepared to discuss adopting a neutral stance as part of a peace deal with Russia. Why he didn't say this point six months ago (when US & UK drills took place in Ukraina)? It seems, if he had said this in 2021, Ukrainia wouldn't have been invaded.
If Zelensky had held negotiations about Ukraine neutrality six month ago, Ukrainian people wouldn't have struggled against Russian aggression, wouldn't have fled abroad, wouldn't have lost their lives, buildings, and territories.
I agree on sovereignty and self determination principle. But it isn't always the case, as some countries are located so close to world powers, Unfortunately.
I do hope Russians & Ukrainian's talks will make "significant progress" soon.

Glad to read your point of view, Veronica :-)

  5. Hi Giorgio, as you know my entire family are military. Including my granddaughter and both grandsons. War in any country is horrible and the price is always human. I have had to stop looking at the news. I just get highlights and that is enough for me right now. I hope your family is doing well. Come see my new face.

    1. I've just seen your new face and its particular skin and unusual expression. I also like its black eyes.

With regards to Ukraine and Russia, the main problem is that some countries around the world need war, due to the fact that if they don't export weapons and missiles, their economy would decrease sharply. Unfortunately, as we know, since 2011 we have seen war in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Ukraina, etc. ... I hope the next one will not be Georgia

Thank you for sharing your point of view, Nicole :-)
