China's military drills

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, two Western governments have been pushing for Taiwan to order missiles and smaller arms. In the meanwhile, China is conducting military drills near Taiwan, as it seems Chinese are practicing how to invade the island.

According to WionNews, in the first week of May 2022 China carried out another round of drills near Taiwan. A large number of Chinese warplanes, warships and conventional missiles surrounded the island.

The U.S. has never officially supported Taiwan independence. And the sentence "Taiwan is part of China" had been written on U.S. State Department's website for decades. The fact that this sentence has been recently removed signals a shift. Consequently, the message is clear: America is ready to back an independent Taiwan. In other words, the U.S. would be ready to supply their weapons to Taiwan.

  2. Today, Taiwan is a democracy...
China is ruled by a communist government...
The idea of freedom in communism is different
than how people in a democracy think freedom
    should be...
Few people in Taiwan want to become part of
    Communist China...!

And in a Taiwanese Public Opinion Foundation
poll conducted in June 2020, 54% of respondents
supported de jure independence for Taiwan, 23.4%
preferred maintaining the status quo, 12.5% favored
unification with China, and 10% did not hold any
    particular view on the matter....!

And let us not forget...Taiwan is in fact a country...!
and is home to almost 23 million people, making it
the 48th largest "country" in the world..
And..Taiwan does not possess nuclear weapons...!

This will go on and on for many a decade...!
But! I predict that this current war will end by the
end of this month..Putin will be dead, by the end of
    the month to...! Trust me..!

    1. You've already written down this point in your previous comment, Willie! ... So you think by the end of this Spring the war will go an end. This means you have lot of information at your disposal :-)))
I hope we will not see a neverending war as we've already seen in other corners of the world.

    3. Vero, Olga.

    4. The United States is Taiwan's main international
      arms supplier...
And..- The U.S. State Department has approved
the potential sale to Taiwan of equipment, training
and other items to support the Patriot Air Defense
System in a deal valued at up to $95 million, the
      Pentagon has said...!
And..approximately $17 billion in military equipment
Taiwan agreed to purchase from the United States
      since July 2019...!
      So..it's ALL on going..!

    5. Thanks for your interesting information about the sale of USA military equipment, Willie!
With regards to Taiwan island, I hope we will not see the same inviasion as we see in Ukraine.

  3. I have to agree with you Giorgio especially since 3 republican senators made in unannounced visit to Zelensky. One being the minority leader Mitch McConnell. He is such a snake. My opinion.

    1. That's another evidence that many Western politicians are not interested in negotiations. They are pushing an arms race in East Europe, as many countries located close to the Russian border would buy technology involved in the detection, tracking, interception, and destruction of attacking missiles. Not to mention of weapons already shipped to Ukraine. It's a great business for multinational companies involved in weapons production, and export. That's the reason why they don't want Zelensky to agree on a peace agreement with the Russian government.
Thank you for sharing your opinion, and information, Nicole!

  4. I think it was apparent that Russia's invasion of Ukraine, unchallenged by the west, would embolden China's posture on Taiwan.

    1. Thank you for sharing your comment, David! Unfortunately, there are some places around the world, mainly in the Middle East, that are on the brink of the war (Israel against Syria & Iran).
