Naples' Angevin Castle

Just a quick post to say that I will stay in Naples this weekend. Naples is located in South Italy, 200 kilometers South from Rome.

The 13th century fortress in the above photo is a significant medieval landmark located close to Naples' port. Naples' Angevin castle was not destroyed in WWII, though the city suffered extensive damage. It is now housing the Civic Museum of Naples.

The special Italian variety of small tomatoes, in the above photo, is famous for their ability to be stored through the winter by hanging them in bunches. Those tomatoes are typical of Naples' Vesuvius volcano and its surroundings.

I know this is quite an "instagram-style" post 😃

Greetings

    1. Hello Anna,
with regards to the Winter Olympic Games, which take place in Nothern Italy, I noticed that many Italians disagree on the fact that Israel is allowed to participate in the Olympics. Israel is allowed to compete in the Olympics while committing genocide but Russia is banned for doing a war. As it is know, Israel killed more civilians, mainly children, in the ongoing Palestine and Gaza ethnic cleansing than Russia in four-year war.
      Disgusting and shameful double standard.

  9. Naples’ Angevin Castle looks incredible! Do you find pleasure in exploring the fortress itself, or do the views and history captivate you more? Those small Vesuvius tomatoes sound delicious too. Do you get to taste them while wandering the city? Wishing you a happy weekend full of history, flavor, and little discoveries. I just shared a new travel post too, and you’re invited to peek: www.melodyjacob.com.

    1. Yes Melody, I tasted them while I was eating a pizza with tomatoes and mozzarella (the typical Naples' white fresh cheese).

I didn't visit the castle, Melody. The visit takes one day, as there are three chapels, a museum for painting and sculpture, vaults (prisons) located in the space under the Palatine Chapel, the Hall of the Barons, the library of the neapolitan society of homeland history, etc.

I appreciate you invinting me to read your new post.
