Yesterday I saw a man who was parking his three wheeled vehicle close to the supermarket. He came from Switzerland and he had been driving his three wheled vehicle for 1200 km.
On the environment front, the weather is still too hot here in Central Italy. Many tourists from North Europe and Canada say they would have never thought of such extreme terperature in South Europe.
Speaking of tourists, I've noticed that foreign visitors don't like to have lunch or dinner at restaurants specifically made for them. They would like to meet both locals and tourists while they are at restaurants or coffee shops. I agree with them. Actually, tourists who visit my town always ask me for a place where they can have pizza or other typical Italian food. I don't recommend tourist-oriented restaurants 🍷 🍕🥣
Do you like to have breakfast or dinner in a restaurant mainly visited by tourists when you are abroad ❓

ReplyDeleteI always like to have breakfast where I'm staying within Australia as I've never been abroad. Going out to dinner in the evening I would prefer to go to a local restaurant to get the vide of the locals and what they eat.
Keep cool in your hot weather, and winter has arrived here at last.
I don't like restaurants and tourist accomodation run by great companies.

DeleteTraveling 1200 km from Switzerland on a three-wheeled vehicle is an incredible journey, and spotting that in the supermarket parking lot must have been a cool surprise. The intense heat wave in Central Italy right now definitely explains why visitors from Northern Europe and Canada are feeling shocked by the temperatures. Seeking out authentic local spots instead of tourist traps is always the best way to travel because the food is better and the atmosphere is far more genuine. When visiting other countries, finding those hidden corners where the locals actually hang out is always the main goal.

DeleteMy wife and I agree. We always like to go eat where locals eat. We don't even care for touristy hotels, and prefer bed and breakfast places where we can enjoy conversations with locals. Visiting via Nicole's Friday Face Off.

ReplyDeleteDas Wetter war auch hier in Deutschland viel heißer als wir es gewöhnt sind. Inzwischen ist die Hitze wieder verschwunden.
Wenn ich im Ausland essen möchte, dann versuche ich auch immer etwas landestypisches zu finden. Auch wenn es Restaurants extra für Touristen, dazu gehöre ich dann ja auch, gibt, ziehe ich Orte vor, an denen man Einheimische trifft.
