Old Rome-Fiumicino railway

The origin of the Rome-Fiumicino railway line dates back to 1875. Located close to Rome, Fiumicino is home of the largest airport in Italy ✈ In addition, it has a large fishing center๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŸ

A railway engine and a baggage wagon are still positioned on old tracks in a street in the center of Fiumicino.

The tracks of that railway line no longer exist, as the last train to Rome left the night of January 30th, 2000.  ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿšƒ๐Ÿšƒ๐Ÿšƒ๐Ÿšƒ๐Ÿšƒ

Urban heat island effect

In many towns around the world there are dense concentrations of pavements, sidewalks, buildings and other surfaces paved with asphalt that absorbs and retains heat.

Most of the available soil in the urban environment is buried under asphalt and concrete and any minimally available bare soil is compacted by foot traffic. That's why the green areas in the photos are fenced.

Adding shrub and trees to the urban environment offers ecological value and reminds us regionally typical vegetation.

I am glad to see olive trees blooming, considering from 2016 to 2022 many Italian farmers experienced wasting disease of olive trees.

Have a nice weekend ☀️

Better late than never

It seems President Biden has just understood that bombs supplied to Israel have been used in Gaza to kill civilians ... better late than never.

According to the US National Security Council, if Israel were to make significant ground combat operations in South Gaza, we would see innocent people falling victims again and again.

We wait and see.

Trevignano Romano

Just three photos of a small town located on the volcanic lake Bracciano (Central Italy). With a population of about 5,000, it is less than 50 km away from Rome. I went to Trevignano Romano this week, where I enjoyed its historic center.

In the hills North of Trevignano Romano there is evidence of settlements that date back to the 8th century BC. Its historical center and lakefront promenade are also pleasant places to visit.

I noticed there is a traditional community there that live for that small town and its surroundings, with the goal of becoming more economically and ecologically sustainable. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ ๐Ÿšด‍♂️๐Ÿšด‍♀️๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ

Wednesday street view

,

Many people can still claim allowance on expediture for renovation of residential building located in historical areas. So many old houses have just been painted.

I saw that the two main colours, of the residential buildings just painted, are red and pink.

That's why I disagree with boys and girls who write their thoughts on the walls of the houses. they could send their messages through WhatApp, SMS, Telegram, emails, etc.

A medieval gateway to the historical neighborhood is still kept in good conditions.

Enjoy the rest of this week!

Sweden has lost its policy of neutrality.

Sorry to bore you once again with a geopolitical topic. Unfortunately, I have noticed that world powers want the two wars in Ukraine and Palestine never to go to an end.

Since the Ukraine-Russia war began, back in 2014 (not 2022), Sweden has been hitting by massive propaganda claiming if Swedish people didn't join NATO, Russians would invade them next. I think this is not true, as Russia has no interest in Sweden and its territory, although that  Scandinavian country is on Russia's "Unfriendly countries list".

According to many analists, a clash with Finland could be a more realistic possibility. Obviously, Russia is determined to stop Moldova and Georgia from joining NATO.

On 7th March Sweden became NATO newest member. Consequently, it's easy to see that the Swedish government will be compelled to send soldiers abroad. In addition, Swedish kids would be forced to serve in the military in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and other countries located close to the Russian border.

Have a nice Sunday ☀
