It's time for us to make olive oil

It's time for us to make olive oil. With an average production of more than 560,000 Tons, Italy has the second biggest production of olive oil in Europe and the world. The olive trees are manly diffused in the hills (53%), and a large percentage of olive oil production in Italy occurs in the Southern regions, combining traditional, intensive and super intensive groves.

In November the countryside in some parts of Italy still shows signs of the traditional farming methods related to olive oil production, including the involvement of donkeys, which are useful when olive trees are located in the hills.

The EU with its roughly 67% of the world's olive oil is the leading producer. Other olive oil producers are in California (US), Argentina, North Africa, and Middle East.

And last but not least, olive oil can lower our "bad" (LDL) cholesterol level while leaving our "good" (HDL) cholesterol intact.

  2. The great country of Italy has a wealth of natural resources and is the second largest producer of olive oil in the world.
In traditional farming methods it is interesting because there is the involvement of donkeys in hilly areas. Is this donkey as a means of transportation to carry the farmer's olive crop down the hill?
Yes, it is true that olive oil can lower"bad" cholesterol (LDL) level and leaving "good" cholesterol (HDL) intact.
    Have a nice weekend

    1. Exactly, Mrs. Justcherry, donkey is a mean to carry olive crop down-hill, and sometimes to the crusher. I'm glad to see you and other members of our blogging community have been interested in my post about olive oil.
Does your country import olive oil? I am so curious. Maybe Indonesian food is cooked with soy oil, as we see in China.
      Have a nice Sunday.

    3. Excuse me, Miss Justcherry, not Mrs. I'm sorry I delete my comment because my teks are typo so I write again.
I have always been attracted to olive oil products because they are classified as healthy oils. Yes, it is true that our country Indonesia still has to import olive oil. So olive oil is expensive here. But Sometimes we use olive oil to make spaghetti and pizza
Everyday we use coconut oil and palm oil for cooking because Indonesia is a producer of coconut and palm oil. I hope someday I can get cheap olive oil here because olive oil is healthier.
      Have a nice day

    4. So sorry for that mistake! Actually, in English language when we don't know if someone is married, we should write "Ms.". We can write "Mrs." when we know she is married.
Could you tell me the price of olive oil in your country. I am so curious :-)
      Regards

  3. I imagine being in one of the villages seeing the process from starting to the final process of making oil, olives ... it must be an exotic sight to see a donkey being used to help bring the olive harvest.
Hope my imagination will come true.

    Greetings, Giorgio.

    1. Why not? If you visit Italy in Autumn, you could see olive harvest and donkeys that carry olive crop down-hill. You could also visit the crusher and see the oil extraction process
