Human trafficking and migrants smuggling

This week I was sorry to hear, once again, that many migrants from Africa died in the Central Mediterranean. All this took place just a few miles from European countries. Instead of helping African underdeveloped economies, they continue to steal young people from Sahel countries, pretending not to see the cemetery that the Mediterranean sea has become. Not to mention of human trafficking and migrants smuggling.

Since 2013 some EU leaders have issued political asylum to African migrants who are not forced to escape armed conflict or persecution. This is a crime against humanity, as those governments are stealing young men and women from territories who would need economic support, because of drought, climate change, flooding, epidemic, etc.

As it is known, illegal immigration can help developed countries, as many of them are now grappling with the challenges posed by rapidly aging population. Actually, the share of older persons in the EU's total population will increase in the coming decades. This will, in turn, lead to an increased burden on those of working age to provide for the social expediture required by the people aged 65 and over for a range of related services.

That's the main reason why EU leaders continue to bury their heads in the sand.

  1. ...this is a complex problem, but I think that it all boils down a problem of race. In Europe if the these migrants were white and here in the USA if the brown migrants from Mexico were white the problem would be solved. Somehow Christians have a comfort level with this discrimination.

    1. The problem is that we (Italians) also had migrants waves from Eastern Europe, such as Ukrainians, Albanians, Moldovian, etc. who are white.
Actually, as you mentioned, with regards to migrants who come from the African continent and sail through the Mediterranean sea, the race is another complication.

    1. True, unfortunately human trafficking and migrants smuggling are two big problems in Central Mediterranean sea. Two days ago a 6 months kid died while he was sailing illegally with his parents.

    2. How tragic was the news that the boy died. The world security institutions should immediately take firm action on human trafficking in the Mediterranean Mediterranean Sea.

Thanks for the news link notification you gave, Giorgio.
      Greetings.

Unfortunately, many EU countries aren't involved as they should.

    1. Actually, human trafficking and migrants smuggling began a couple of years after the beginning of the Lybia's civil war.

Unfortunately, many people are interested in this business, such as NGOs, Open Arms, George Soros, migrant smugglers, etc.

    3. Shame on those people who are still involved in that business related to poor migrants and political asylum seekers.
