Western-centrism

In my opinion there is a biased view that favors, inconsciously or consciously, Western civilization's interests, norms and narratives. In the implementation of international law's principles we can still see that practice of privileging Western interests.

For instance, with regards to the self-determination principle we can easily see some inconsistencies.

According to the Western media's narrative, Catalonia has NO right to secede from Spain, but Kosovo HAS a right to secede from Serbia.

The two Ukrainian provinces of Luhansk and Donetsk have NO right to secede from Ukraine.  But Taiwan has a right to secede from China.

That behaviour is still strictly related to a worldview centered on Western civilization.

The good news is that India Prime Minister has just invited African Union to join G20 as a permanent member. The head of Africa Union has already took seat.

    1. mmm ... I think many people don't understand what's going on. For instance, soldiers of a powerful Western country have been occupying East Syria (and its crude oil facilities) since very long time ... but nobody mentions this point. Media system simply talks about East Ukraine, but doesn't mention the 2014 overthrown of the democratic elected president.

    1. That's great! The world is going towards a multi-polar system.

  3. Hi Giorgio!
In my opinion, the world is all about interests. Interests, money and power. In Poland there is a popular saying „What to me the steward isn’t to you the stinker".
Giorgio, I’m talking about the West – I’m talking about the European Union isn’t equal either. Not all countries are treated equally, fairly. Germany and France would like to be the most important and impose on the other countries what they should be like, what their rule of law, their politics, their culture should be like.
Giorgio, my good friend, I greet you from a very warm and sunny (still! Hopefully for as long as possible!) Poland!!!

    1. Hello dear friend, Anna!
Weather is still sunny enough here in Italy. And many people are still enjoying beaches.
      Have a nice week ☀️

  4. Dear Giorgio! I am so glad that the African Union is a member of G20 now. I want to continue your thought. According to Anglo-Saxon policy, Ukraine HAD the right to carry out a coup d'etat in 2014, but Niger did NOT have the right to carry out a coup d'etat in 2023.
Let Ukraine return Viktor Yanukovych as its officially elected president!
Giorgio, do you know that Zelensky bought a mansion in Egypt with money given to him by the European Union? Olga Kiyashko, the mother of his wife Elena Zelenskaya, now lives there.

    1. Many people don't know that in 2014 the Ukranian democratic elected president, Viktor Yanukovych, was overthrown by CIA officers. That's why in 2014, after the US had made a coup in Kyiv, Russian government invaded Crimea. But many people don't know, don't read, and don't make any research.

I know Mr. Zelenski owns mansions in Florida (US) and Tuscany (Italy), but I have never heard he also has a mansion in Egypt. Thanks for sharing such info. Zelenski doesn't love his people. He sold Ukraine to Anglo-Saxons' multinational companies.

    2. Russian government did NOT invade Crimea. The peoples of Crimea (Russians, Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians) held a referendum. They separated from Ukraine and joined Russia. No one attacked Crimea. It was the will of the people, the residents of Crimea. This is real democracy.

The leaders of the European Union and NATO call Ukraine a democratic country. Do you believe that there is democracy in Ukraine? Now in the European Union at the request of Zelensky, the authorities must deport all Ukrainian men under 60 years old to Ukraine in order to send them to war.
Do you know what they do with Russian tourists in the EU? They're robbing! They take money, cars, jewelry, and even clothes! Is this democracy?
Have you watched the news about G20? Zelensky was hysterical because he was not invited. Zelensky brazenly stated that the G20 agenda needs to be rewritten. Why is an arrogant clown allowed to dictate his will during the G20 or a meeting of the United Nations?
Have you seen Pirate Scholz? He looks like a city madman. He could have worn sunglasses. All of Russia is laughing at this Pirate and at the illiterate and uneducated Anna-Lena.

One Egyptian journalist wrote in his article about Zelensky’s mansion in his country.

  5. Hello, Giorgio! Why does NATO have the right to supply weapons to Ukraine, but Iran, China and North Korea do NOT have the right to sell weapons to Russia? These are double standards.

    1. As above mentioned by another blogging friend, it is not easy to find consistency in political behaviour.

  6. Anna-Lena doesn’t understand what “turning 360 degrees” means and doesn’t know how many days there are in a year.

She constantly repeats the words of Ursula (who is also not very educated) that Russia is using chips from German washing machines and refrigerators to create weapons. Is it really difficult for her to ask knowledgeable people whether these chips are suitable for creating weapons?

Currently, we call her country the Pirate Republic, and the chancellor the Pirate.

    1. Exactly, Veronica. That's why I think we can't say Ukraine's government is right or China's government is wrong and so on. I haven't still understood who gives us, Westerners, the right to say that the Ukrainian provinces of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk have no right to secede from Ukraine, but Taiwan has a right to secede from China. In addition, according to Western international politics, Catalonia has no right to secede from Spain, but Kosovo has a right to secede from Serbia.
I think the international principle of self-determination has been transformed in a useful tool for gaining political and economic control of other territories and peoples.

Have a nice new week, Veronica!
