Last week I saw many clementine trees along a sidewalk of a Naples' residential neighbourhood. I know that clementine is a citrus fruit hybrid between mandarin and sweet orange, which was named in honor of the French missionary who first propagated it 🍊🍊🍊
I noticed that people don't eat fruits grown in public parks and urban areas. Actually, we don't have any information about the contamination of urban soil (heavy metals, arsenic, etc. ... ☢).
Do you think that city fruits are safe to eat ❓ ... In my opinion, many urban soils are not pollutant-free.
Have a nice new week ☀️
...urban soils have lots of lead.
ReplyDeleteTrue!
DeleteHello, Giorgio! What charming fruit trees! I know nothing about Italian urban soil. In Russia it's safe to eat city fruits.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see fruit trees along sidewalks.
DeleteChe meraviglia!
ReplyDeleteSpesso vedo anche alberi di olivo e gelso lungo i marciapiedi.
DeletePretty tree :D
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt depends, perhaps the city fruits are not pollutant free exactly like those coming from other areas of the planet and which contain other chemical substances to make them conserve for a longer time than is expected in nature for those fruits, and then they may also have been polluted by the air and water with which the plants are bathed.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I would never have thought of collecting them because I'm not sure that in Italy there isn't some little law lost in the jungle of all the regulations we have in force today, that declares forbidden doing something like this.
You're right, Daniele, as fruits and veggies that are shipped from other continents may be as polluted as those grown in public parks and urban areas.
DeleteWonderful photos!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really like: tangerines, clementines, oranges and other southern fruits :)
Giorgio, my friend I wish these beautiful trees would grow in Poland!
Giorgio, I greet you from windy and rainy Poland!
Hello, dear friend Anna! The weather is cloudy now in early February. But it seems the weather will be cold in Italy since the end of this week.
DeleteHave a nice week!
You've brought up an important point about the safety of consuming fruits grown in urban environments. It's true that urban soils can sometimes contain contaminants due to various human activities like industrial pollution, traffic emissions, and the historical use of pesticides and other chemicals.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday, Giorgio!
I completely agree on your point of view, Veronica. I have never eaten fruits grown in urban environment.
DeleteLove the colors
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see them on the tree, such a wonderful colour.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
