Text neck

Yesterday on the way back from Rome the train was so crowded.  I noticed that most people where using their mobile phone for extended periods.

The term text neck in mainly referred to mobile phone neck problems. Prolonging forward head posture while using mobile phones may cause neck pain and headaches.

This posture strains the neck muscles and spine, potentially causing long-term damage if not addressed.

In addition to this, I saw that no one had a book or a newpaper in their hands.

The above picture shows a man who sent messages while his poor dog was patiently waiting. He can't say that he loves his dog.

I hope you'll have a nice weekend ☕☀🥐

  1. Hi Giorgio, it annoys me to see this, and it is everywhere. Here in Montreal I saw a woman pushing her baby 👶 in a stroller while she was texting on her phone. As well, I see people crossing the street and instead of watching where they are going, they are looking down at their phone.

    1. You're right Linda. It's so sad to see women pushing their babies in the strollers while they were texting on her mobile phone. I often see women's behaviour like this at the park ground or at the supermarket. Poor little children notice that their mothers do not look them in the eye during a conversation.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

  2. I didn't know of such a thing, but can see how people can and could get neck problems from mobile phone texting and looking at it.

  3. Yes, bad for the neck. However, it is safer to look down on the phone than on the surrounding passengers. You never know who gonna bash you up

  5. Yes, Giorgio, a large number of people here look like that too, their heads bent down toward their phones. They often have children, a partner, or a dog next to them and don't even glance at them. The phone gets their undivided attention.
The neck problems are just one unpleasant aspect of this cult. The carelessness of these people sometimes really annoys me. I also feel so sorry for the little children who have no one around them to share their impressions of the world and what's happening around them. Children are just learning everything, and nobody cares.

I wish there would be a change in thinking and that fellow human beings would once again become more important than a cell phone in one's hand. :)

    Happy weekend

    1. True. You made an interesting point, as young children are constantly learning. They absorb information and skills from their environment. That's why interactions with parents and caregivers are so important.

Thank you for sharing such interesting thoughts.

    1. Of course, there is. But I don't like books and newspapers on my mobile phone.

  8. It's the same over here Giorgio. Though I sometimes see people with books in coffee shops. I don't use public transport these days but I bet they are all on their phones!

That's a lovely looking dog, he is a patient soul waiting on his owner. I notice the guy is wearing headphones. This is another thing I don't get.....people walking about with headphones on and it's so common here too.

We were in Glasgow today for lunch and shopping and there was another march for Palestine. Several people riding their bikes through the centre with the flag on their bike in protest. There are protests most weekends in Glasgow but no one high up is listening. It was 32C, too hot for us over here.

    1. I remember in young people with books in Edinburgh's coffee shops. That is great !

Nobody cares about Palestine's ethnic cleasing. It's so sad!

Since last monday the weather hasn't been too hot. Tomorrow it will be cloudy.

  9. Hi Giorgio!
Giorgio, you brought attention to an important (very important!) problem - postural defect...
Unfortunately (I beat my breast), I'm an example of incorrect posture. In my case, it's not the phone, but the laptop at which I sit as I'm comfortable - not according to the correct posture. The second in my case is reading books - not the correct posture either.
Giorgio, I wish you a good evening tonight and Sunday!

  10. Tech Neck is the Modern Epidemic!
There are various exercises that can help but of course the best one is not to use our tech stuff so much!

Have a lovely weekend, here in the UK it is VERY HOT!

    All the best Jan
