Fire on the hills

I've got many comments and emails from blogger friends who support us and pray the rain will come soon in Italy. Thanks for that :-)
Unfortunately, things are worsening in terms of hot weather and drought. And last but not least we have had many fires every day since late July. In addition to this, warm sea water brought here jellyfishes that are dangerous because the toxicity to humans varies widely. As it known, some Jellyfish's stings are irritating. I was so sorry to see many German tourists who couldn't swim as they were afraid of Jellyfish's stings.
I took the two pictures above this week while I was in the hills close to Gaeta (South Italy).

  1. ...I hope that fires will not directly affect you. In the western US fires are raging too. What will it take for "leaders" to address climate change?

    1. You're right Tom, as many wildland fires in the United States and South Europe are caused by humans. But global warming and low precipitation over an extended period of time pave the way to people who are responsible for fires.

  2. Giorgio you my good friend I like the warmth and sunshine, but I’m frightened by what is happening in the world. It makes me very sad to look at the pictures you posted and to read the words you wrote.
Poor people, poor animals, poor nature, poor Earth...
We are living in a really scary time....
Giorgio I'll tell you frankly: I with great trepidation turn on the computer and information every morning, because I’m afraid of what I will see and read....

  3. Dear Anna, the world is really in a mess! ... drought, global warming (some people hypcritically say "climate change"), water and energy issues, etc. ... in addition to Russia-Ukraine war, Bejiing continues to escalate tensions close to the Taiwan island. China also announces contermeasures against the USA. Not mention of another epidemic!

  4. Here in the UK we have also had many fires.
We are still experiencing hot weather and no rain forecast, it is very concerning.

    I hope you stay safe.

    All the best Jan

    1. Thanks for your support, Jan! It seems we (Italians) will see the rain this week. Fingers crossed! The world is in a mess ... I've heard the drought in Texas has become so critical, as many farmers are forced to sell their cattle because there is no water.

      Have a nice week!

  5. Giorgio the Russians are ready to blow up the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia!!!!!!
„The portal Ukrayinska Pravda, citing information from the Ukrainian nuclear corporation Energoatom notified that the Russians are ready to blow up the mined Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.”
I wrote about it on my blog now!

    1. The hypothetical shelling of Zaporizhia's nuclear power plant may damage also Russian territory. That's why I hope this is a Russian bluff! The good news is that Ukrainians haven't been using the nuclear power plant as a shield, as we saw three months ago in Mariupol (Azovstal steel plant).
Thank you for the update, Anna ... I am going to read your post soon :-)

This is a scary world we are living in today.
    Stay safe, my friend.

    1. I'm afraid it is too late, as the planet will become warmer. There are many problems to deal with, as water shortage, sustainable energy, epidemics, etc. ... that's why there's no room for wars and weapons race.

      Thank you, Veronica.
