China's peace plan

From 20th to 22nd March 2023 China's Xi Jinping met Vladimir Putin in Moscow. What does China gain from Xi ad Putin's talk in Moscow?
It seems, at first glance, that China has sent a message very clearly that Beijing is going to deepen its relationship with Moscow. This is easy to see, although the two countries have underlined that their meeting doesn't pave the way for a political or military alliance. Otherwise, the two Eurasian world powers are seeking more cooperation about the belt and road infrastructure project, the BRICS group, agriculture and energy.
In addition to this, China's president has quite successfully used this visit as a platform to promote China's peace deal betwwen Russia and Ukraine. In this perspective, British government has already announced it will provide Ukraine with armoured-piercing rounds containing depleted uraninum, which is a byproduct of the uranium-enrichment process needed to create nuclear weapons. And this means, in my opinion, that we make progress but then we experience events that cause us to be further behind than we were when we made the progress.

    1. Yes, China's peace plan to end Ukraine's war. As it is known, China's government issued a 12-point peace early this month.
But, as to be expected, some Western countries have already said it is "extremely unfair".

    1. Of course, Ukraine government can't accept any China's peace proposal without USA's approval. Not to mention of Americans who continue to say that it is not time to negotiate.

  3. Hi Giorgio!
I, unfortunately, don’t believe in China's peace plans. For me, China and peace are two opposite words (China has criminal policies for example Tibet, Uighurs). China sees interests. In my opinion, China will do a lot to give support to Moscow (and secretly help with equipment). Beijing doesn’t care about a very strong Russia, but it doesn’t want to lose and humiliate Russia. China wants to dominate the world.
My friend I wish you a good weekend!

    1. The main problem is that the plan doesn’t respect the territorial integrity.
Thanks for sharing your opinion, Anna.
      Have a nice weekend!

In fact, as Anna points out, China is only interested in China. Re the war, the joint statement of Putin and Xi did not call for Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine, or even repeat the call for a ceasefire made in Beijing’s 12-point “position paper” on ending the conflict, as issued last month. Neither has Xi reached out directly to Ukraine, which would show true intent of brokering a treaty.

I heartily recommend this excellent and comprehensive analysis of the joint statement. Aside from some obfuscation and 'read-between-the-lines' regarding security/nuclear/territorial matters, the bulk of it clearly points to China's agenda re its Belt And Road initiative as well as BRICS relationships.

It should be noted that the suggested issue of those weapons by the UK has not been well-received here either; not because of any nuclear concern because the by-product is significantly less radioactive than the ore metal, but because there is high toxic potential to ground and water. The depleted uranium has been used by all militaries of the world - including Russia - for tank piercing weaponry because it weighs in at a much heavier weight than the lead that would otherwise be used (and also has ground and water toxicity)... So yes, we agree that the world is full of mixed messages about peace v war...

Have a good weekend for your birthday! YAM xx

    1. I know that many Italian soldiers died after they had used depleted uranium in Kossovo (Former Yugoslavia).

Thank you for your kind words :-)

    1. True! It seems that the attempts to isolate Russia, build a fence around it and turn it into an outcast have failed: Russia will use Chinese Yuan to trade with Asia, Africa and Latin America.
In the meanwhile, French protesters are burning down city halls. Similar footages in Syria, Iran, Russia or China would’ve been broadcasted round the clock on western media with calls for regime change and military intervention.
Helping someone who's brainwashed can be challenging, and it can take a long time since their ideas are deeply rooted in their mind.

Thank you for leaving your comment!

  7. Hello Giorgio! I don't understand what progress you are talking about?
Is the use of depleted uranium a progress? The NATO countries decided to completely destroy Ukraine and the people of Ukraine. I see how you help Ukraine.
The Uranium nuclear dust will cover all the countries of Eastern Europe. Italy has been exporting grain from Ukraine for a whole year. This grain is not intended for Italy, but for African countries. Are you sure this grain isn't contaminated with nuclear dust?

Tell Anna Hudyka to hide in a bomb shelter. Soon uranium dust will cover all of Poland.

    1. Irina, try to understand the meaning of the sentence that I mentioned above (""... And this means, in my opinion, that we make progress but then we experience events that cause us to be further behind than we were when we made the progress...""), considering that I wrote about China's plan (progress) and UK's depleted uranium (further behind).
Please, let me know if you have understood!

    3. If you think that a 12-point peace deal, issued by a world superpower, is not a progress, this means we can't continue our conversation.

    4. I didn't say that China's peace plan was not a progress.
What peace plans do the EU and NATO propose? None. The EU and NATO only have plans for war. They take money for the war from the peace fund. They are real jerks!!!

  8. I wonder what tankers will sit in tanks firing depleted uranium. These tankers will also get cancer. And the shells will infect the air and land of Ukraine for 500 thousand years.
I think that the British will not sit in these tanks, but will put the Poles. After all, the Anglo-Saxons do not feel sorry for the Slavs.

  9. To have peace would be wonderful, but somehow I don't think it will be soon.

The main problem is that many powers and multinational companies would like to see a neverdending war in East Europe.

  10. We start to see what I call "sandwich effect" two blocks: USA and on the other side Russia & China with asian countries probably all with China (Except for Taiwan and Singapore maybe). And Europe inside forced to choose where to stay and so divided again in many States or we can better say satellite - countries.

    1. Sorrry to say we, Italians, can't choose 'where to stay', Daniele.
France, Turkye and Spain could choose to become neutral. Italy and Germany couldn't choose to go out of NATO (which means USA) ... there are 12,000 American soldiers in Italy. And there are 7 USA military bases in Italy.

That's the reason why the Italian Prime Minister is compelled (I would say obliged) to send weapons, tanks and anti-missile systems to Ukraine. She has no choice but to comply with Washington's orders. And if the leader of the opposition party were to become Prime Minister, she would obey Washington's command, instruction and directive as well.

      Have a nice week, Daniele!

  11. Many have already paid with their lives in Ukraine. Many more will lose their lives if this war continues to escalate.
It will be interesting to see China's role as a peace broker in the coming days.
    Have a great weekend, Giorgio
