1st week of August

I don't want to bore you with political comments about what is happening in Niger and other African countires. But I would like to mention just a few words spoken by Eritrea's president, Isaias Afwerki. He recently said that neocolonialism is a continuation of classical slavery. Neocolonialist powers will control the world for coming fifty years without anyone challenging them. Now we are at the crossroad, as a better world await people of the two continents of Africa and Asia, the largest and wealthiest landmass.

(Picture of the main port in Tunisia taken in 2018)

The following pictures have nothing to do with African people who are tired that colonialists are always around.

On this sunny Sunday the first week of August goes to an end ☀️

In the early week of August I have noticed that beaches are not crowded as they should, although we are in the middle of the summer ⛵
My dinghy boat, is ready. It is powered by a low-horsepower outboard engine  ⚓

Sorry to see that some uncivilized people, who come here on holiday from Rome's worst neighborhoods, are still leaving waste on the street.

A cricket was looking for supper in my mother's garden 🦗

Meanwhile, a beautiful sailing ship has just docked here at the Italian port of Civitavecchia.

Enjoy the rest of August!

  1. Hi Giorgio!
African countries and many others were in the future nrutally exploited. This is (should be!) a shame for the normal modern world.
Unfortunately, some people who say that they want to help these countries are simply lying! They say this for their own interests, benefits, to gain (have) their support in the fight against the West. Who am I talking about? The criminal, the scumbag Putin.
Giorgio, I wish you a good Sunday!
Unfortunately, it's not good at my place. Yesterday and in the night we had storms. Unfortunately the words of the synoptics about a warm, sunny weekend didn't come true.

    1. Hello, Anna!
Obviously, China and Russia are trying to gain support. As you know, the Russia-Ukraine conflict is in reality a war between Washington and Moscow. And this war has been fought over the past 30 years, due to the fact that some tactical nuclear weapons have been deployed on the territory of five non-nuclear EU countries.
In this perspective, Ukraine is simply a battlefield. Poor Ukrainians fell in this trap.

Have a nice time, Anna :-)

    2. President Putin does not just say that Russia will help African countries. We really help them. We have already given them many tons of grain and fertilizers.
In our country, African students study at universities for free. From the new academic year, the number of African students will increase.
Giorgio, your blog friend Anna Hudyka, as always, knows nothing, although she calls herself a journalist.

    3. Anna, don't be jealous! Russia always help African countries. That's why the people of Niger are waving Russian flags, not Polish ones.

    4. .
Unfortunately, people don't know that many African countries have continued to pay colonial tax to France since their independence till today! ... African people will choose their own allies.

    1. Actually, British and French colonialism and imperialism were some of the most powerful forces in world history.

  3. Neocolonialism is the force of human history. Sad. The rubbish pile is really an eye sore too. I feel for you.

    1. With regards to neocolonialism, the solution is not to transfer Africans to Europe (through illegal immigration), but to liberate Africa from some Europeans.

  4. In this world, ready to explode in every moment, Africa is one of the most instabile continents and sooner or later things will have to change before this bomb explodes. About our country, I can confirm that crises is really hard, and due to the highest prices ever, many beaches are not crowded as they should and many italians are at home. Have a wonderful summer

  5. I always enjoy looking at the photos from your country, Giorgio.
Any reason why the beaches are not crowded as they should be?
Sad to see the rubbish pile though.

Have a great week ahead, Giorgio

    1. Hello, Veronica!
In my opinion, the two main reasons are, firstly, rising price of energy (gas, oil and other commodities), which undermines purchasing power, and, secondly, windy weather.

Glad to hear you enjoyed my post :-)
      Have a nice time!

  6. Neocolonialism is the new idea of colonialism, which emerged from the late 15th to the 20th century and focused on the extension of power over colonies in one region by people from another region of the world.

It is the term used to describe when capitalism, globalization and other cultural forces are used to control a less powerful country. The colonialism of Africa is a socio-economic phenomenon that led to the alienation of the Black Continent. The African continent, despite being extremely rich in natural and mineral resources, is in a state of withering, as a result of which its inhabitants live in impoverished conditions.

    1. Thank you for leaving such an interesting comment!

With regards to neocolonialism, it was never a conspiracy: BlackRock and other multinational companies like that control the world. Our political “leaders” and policy-makers are merely puppets.

  7. I loved your photos, have they been taken all in Civitavecchia (apart the one taken in Turkey)?
Just such a pity for the mountain of rubbish you spotted over there :( But it seems that all the bins were already full, probably it should be necessary to have more passages of the garbage truck in that area.
You wrote, answering to a comment before mine, that there aren't many tourists also because of the windy weather... In my opinion going to the seaside when the weather is not at its best, gives it a lot more of charm! :)
    Have a great summer!

    1. Glad to hear you like my pictures, Miryam :-) ... the first one was taken in Tunisia. I took all the other pictures in Civitavecchia (70 km North from Rome).

You are right, as walking close to the sea is always a pleasure.

Have a nice and sunny weekend :-)
