Images of February

Most trees are still without leaves, and the weather is cloudy in mid-February. In the meanwhile, the province North Rome was hit by a flood yesterday.

There was damage to crops.

The highway has now been reopened.

In this context, it seems people are more aware of flood hazards, as many small building located close to the rivers have been demolished. The photo below was taken before the flood.

Have a nice Valentine's day!

  2. We get a lot of rain in Scotland and flooding but not too much damage from the rain. There are a lot of evergreen trees here so lots of leaves but the deciduous trees are still bare.

Happy Valetine's Day Giorgio. We've just had a lunch date and I will be working tonight!!

  6. Floods are a phenomenon that we increasingly have to deal with as a regular event. Climate change is real.

    1. In addition to climate change, the removal of trees and vegetation exposes land to more frequent and intense flooding.

    1. Deforestation can disrupt the natural absorption of water, as trees and woods play a vital role in reducing flooding by absorbing rainwater.

  9. It snows here every day. When I leave the house in the morning to go to work, I can hardly walk. There is so much snow. By lunchtime, the snow is cleared away.

  11. Your photos captured the stark beauty of February so well. It’s sad to hear about the flood and the damage to crops, but it's reassuring that awareness of flood hazards is leading to preventative measures. I hope recovery efforts go smoothly for those affected. Wishing you a lovely Valentine’s Day too!
