Vatican's nativity scene

The above photo shows the Vatican's nativity scene that was unveiled on the 15th of  December in St. Peter Square.

The nativity scene is surrounded by Vatican police officers, who are responsible for public order and crime prevention. If someone wanted to visit Vatican square and St. Peter Basilica, he/she would  have to pass through Vatican police security checkpoints.

The Christmas tree set up in Vatican square comes from Norther Italy. It is 25 meters tall and weighing 8,000 Kilograms.

  3. It’s fascinating to see the scale of the Vatican’s preparations that tree is absolutely massive. I love the detail about the nativity scene being modeled after the Grado lagoon this year. It’s such a unique touch to bring that coastal, "watery" history right into the heart of the square. It really puts the "big" in the big city festivities, doesn't it?

Happy Christmas to you! I hope your day is filled with peace and that you have a wonderful time celebrating, whether you're visiting a square or just relaxing at home. Cheers.

  4. Hi Giorgio :)
Beautiful photos :) Yesterday I watched the broadcast of Midnight Mass from the Vatican. It would have been wonderful to be in this special place yesterday. My parents, aunt, and uncle and I went to church for Midnight Mass at midnight.
Giorgio, my friend, I wish you a wonderful Christmas once again!
